The Director of Physical and Mental Health, Héctor González Rodríguez, reported that more than a year after the start of the pandemic, much progress has been made in the fight against COVID-19. He called on citizens not to abandon health measures and to attend the vaccination sessions in order to advance the immunization process of the population of the municipality.

Recently, due to the passage of Hurricane Grace, the COVID-19 attention modules located in Plaza 28 de Julio, Puerto Aventuras and Villas del Sol were temporarily closed. They reopened their doors the day after the passage of the storm.

He explained that the COVID-19 care modules provide a comprehensive service to all patients who present symptoms of respiratory disease or who are classified as a suspected case of the virus. The modules are in operation Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. pm, where free testing and respiratory triage is carried out to know the state of the patient’s disease and in a severe case, refer him in a timely manner to a second level of care (hospital).

The official recalled that the vaccination campaigns are still in force in the municipality and a new vaccination day will soon be announced. He called on citizens to be attentive to the guidelines of the campaign which will appear on the official pages and social networks of the Ministry of Welfare, of the Ministry of State Health and of the Solidaridad city council.

“It is necessary that we continue to take care of ourselves as if we were not vaccinated and take all the precautions against COVID-19: use face masks, continuous hand washing and maintain a healthy distance of 1.5 meters, avoid spaces with high concentrations of people and take care of the persons with comorbidity and minors ”, he added.

Thanks to the efficient management during more than a year of pandemic, the Government of Laura Beristain Navarrete was awarded a good qualification as Resilient Municipality according to the UN, which was achieved thanks to the “Free of Outbreaks” program, through which more face masks and sanitizing kits have been distributed to the population and the Municipal Health System has been fortified with equipment and personnel.
