Councilman Demands Action to Stop Property Invasions In Puerto Aventuras

A man with graying hair, wearing a dark shirt, standing in an office with a white door in the background, looks slightly away from the camera.

Councilman Juan Novelo Zapata has urged Puerto Aventuras Mayor Gilberto Gómez to take action in response to property invasions in the Las Torres area of Puerto Aventuras. He stressed that such incidents will not be tolerated in the municipality and that the mayor must ensure the peace of property owners.

The councilman’s call to action follows ongoing complaints about people clearing land in the Las Torres area. This three-hectare jungle area has recently been invaded with the use of heavy machinery, leading to widespread alarm among local residents. Some have suggested that Mayor Gilberto Gómez is complicit in these invasions.

Novelo Zapata has stated that the removal of trees and the creation of roads in the area indicate an attempt to illegally occupy the land. He suggested that this could be part of a larger corruption scheme and potential vote-buying ahead of upcoming elections.

This situation echoes a similar incident that occurred under the administration of former Mayor Cristina Torres Gómez. A group attempted to take over the same land, leading to significant police intervention.

Novelo Zapata has expressed concern about the lack of action from municipal authorities. He has urged citizens to exercise caution when purchasing land without legal certainty, warning of potential legal repercussions and the risk of losing access to public services in the future. He also highlighted that developers who fail to provide adequate services to buyers could face criminal charges.

In conclusion, Councilman Novelo has called on Mayor Gómez to assume his responsibilities and ensure the peace of property owners. He has made it clear that he will not tolerate such situations in the Solidaridad municipality.
