Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A master cooking class led by renowned chef Iván Ochoa will take place on Friday, August 29, at Fragata Beach Club, with proceeds benefiting prostate cancer prevention efforts. A portion of the funds raised will be donated to the CREER Foundation to support screenings and awareness campaigns.

Raising Awareness for Men’s Health

Andrea Uranga, president of the CREER Foundation, explained that the event was organized after an increase in men inquiring about prostate cancer screenings. While the foundation initially focused on breast cancer prevention, it is now expanding its efforts to address prostate cancer.

“This event is aimed at fundraising for prostate cancer prevention. It’s interesting how many men have approached the foundation asking if we would offer antigen testing. Despite the stigma or the idea that men don’t prioritize their health, we can say that men today are more conscious of their well-being than before,” Uranga stated.

She encouraged men to overcome hesitation about screenings, emphasizing that the test is now a blood analysis rather than the previously invasive method.

“When someone comes to us, we don’t want to let them leave without guidance. Today, we announce that we will have a campaign for prostate antigen testing to aid in early detection and prevention. This antigen test is a blood analysis—we clarify this because sometimes there’s resistance to these types of exams.”

The event begins at 7:00 p.m., offering participants culinary instruction while contributing to a critical health cause.
