Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo (FGE) announced on Monday the rescue of two Colombian women who were victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation. The operation took place at a residence in the Real Lucerna neighborhood of Playa del Carmen.

Deceived with False Job Promises

According to investigations, the women were lured under the false promise of employment with a dance company in Turkey. Upon arriving in Mexico, they were transported to Playa del Carmen and forced into prostitution under exploitative conditions.

The rescue operation was conducted by investigative agents from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Human Trafficking and Exploitation of Children and Adolescents. After gathering sufficient evidence, authorities secured a search warrant from a judge.

Exploitation and Violence

During the raid at a property on Privada Reiden 2, authorities found the victims being forced to work seven days a week under death threats. They were charged 4,000 pesos per sexual service, of which they received only 1,000 pesos weekly. Additionally, their captors imposed a fabricated debt of 150,000 pesos for transportation, lodging, and food.

The victims reported being physically assaulted if they failed to meet daily quotas. Following their rescue, they were placed under protective custody and provided medical, psychological, and legal assistance. Authorities also initiated repatriation procedures to return them to Colombia.

The FGE shared details of the operation on social media, emphasizing their commitment to justice under the hashtags #CeroImpunidad (Zero Impunity) and #JusticiaParaTodos (Justice for All).

The case remains under investigation.
