Colombian Collector Abducted in Cancún Loan Incident

Street in Tres Reyes neighborhood in Cancún where abduction occurred

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A Colombian citizen was forcibly removed from his motorcycle in the Third Stage of the Tres Reyes neighborhood while performing collection duties for the informal system known as “gota a gota” (drop by drop).

Witnesses indicated that the man was being followed by a white car as he traveled along an unnamed street in the area. At that point, several individuals with covered faces exited the vehicle and forcibly took him away, leaving the motorcycle abandoned at the scene.

Although it was reported that the vehicle allegedly used in the incident was located on a trail near Gas Auto, authorities have not officially confirmed that finding nor have they released detailed information about the case.

According to initial investigations, the Colombian man was heading to collect payment from a woman who operates a stewed taco stand in the neighborhood, suggesting the incident could be related to the collection of informal loans in the area.

The investigation remains open, and authorities are working to gather data and testimonies to determine the man’s whereabouts and clarify who is behind the incident.
