MÉRIDA, Yucatán — Jacobo “N,” a member of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), was arrested in Yucatán for possession of illicit substances. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was executed against him for the disappearance of Ángel Josué Hau Cauich, a young man from the Tihosuco community in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo.
Jacobo’s arrest occurred on Sunday, December 7, in Yucatán for possession of illicit substances. However, on Tuesday, December 9, he was placed at the disposal of a Quintana Roo control judge for the crime of enforced disappearance by private individuals.
On social media, the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) reported that an exchange of information between the two states revealed that Jacobo “N” had an arrest warrant for the crime of enforced disappearance by private individuals.
The SSP explained that on March 30, 2025, Jacobo, accompanied by other individuals, intercepted the motorcycle on which Ángel Josué, 24, was traveling with a relative. They threw stones and fired a gun at them; then they forced the victim into a vehicle against his will and took him away.
Following the disappearance of the young man from the Tihosuco community, his family reported the incident, and a search file was generated. Although Jacobo was arrested for this crime, it is unknown whether he provided further details about Ángel’s whereabouts.
The search file describes Ángel as having dark skin, medium build, 1.50 meters tall, and weighing approximately 74 kilograms. It details that his hair is black, wavy, and short, with medium-sized black eyes. He has no visible distinguishing marks.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black round-neck t-shirt, a black long-sleeved sweater with pockets, dark denim pants, and black flip-flops.
For the arrest and transfer of Jacobo “N,” the SSP, together with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), collaborated with their Quintana Roo counterparts.
