Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The iconic Broadway musical Chicago will take the stage at the Teatro de la Ciudad this Sunday, July 6, at 7:00 PM, promising an evening of rhythm, talent, and spectacle. The production, presented by ADC Producciones and Nova Producciones, is directed by Abel Sánchez, Luiser de la Garza, Jenifer Valdovinos, and Luz Chalico.

A Jazz-Age Tale of Crime and Fame

Set in 1920s Chicago, the musical follows Roxie Hart, an aspiring star who murders her lover and attempts to evade conviction through media manipulation, deception, and the help of a cunning yet unscrupulous lawyer. Alongside her is Velma Kelly, a famed vaudeville performer also accused of murder, as both women vie for public and judicial favor in a ruthless battle for fame.

The production features a dazzling ensemble of music and choreography, staying true to the original Broadway show’s biting critique of the justice system and celebrity culture.

A Local Production with High Ambitions

The Playa del Carmen rendition aims to uphold the spirit of the original with meticulous staging, a dedicated cast, and the expertise of two production companies with strong reputations in local performing arts.

"Chicago is one of the most celebrated musicals in theater history, and we are proud to bring it to Playa del Carmen with the same energy and professionalism that made it a global phenomenon," said a representative from the production team.

Tickets for the performance are available for purchase, offering audiences a chance to experience the glitz, glamour, and dark humor of this Broadway classic.
