The much-anticipated 'Festival del Taquero' in Chetumal is set to take place on Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 21. This event was initially postponed due to Hurricane Beryl but is now ready to kick off its sixth edition.

The festival will be held at the Callejón del Arte Chetumal, located in the heart of the downtown and Magic Neighborhood of the state capital. Here, attendees can find the best tacos in one place, with dozens of local businesses offering a wide variety of options.

The festival will extend along De los Héroes Avenue, between Mahatma Gandhi and Efraín Aguilar. In addition to the delicious tacos, there will be contests, musical performances, craft exhibitions, local product showcases, and other fun surprises.

Over the years, the 'Festival del Taquero' has become a significant event in the state capital, contributing to tourism and local economic revitalization. One of the most anticipated activities is the "Who can eat the most tacos?" contest. This competition, held in both female and male categories, offers cash prizes for the winners. Contestants will be provided with a plate of 20 tacos and the first to finish them will be declared the winner. However, participants who eat fewer than 10 tacos will have to pay for the tacos they consumed.

In previous editions of the festival, more than 25 taco vendors and taquerias have participated. This year, attendees can expect a wide variety of taco options, including poc chuc, cochinita, lechón, al pastor, asada, chorizo, basket, suadero, beef head, tripe, udder, beef, and pork. There will also be a selection of traditional tacos from the center and north of the country.

The sixth 'Festival del Taquero' was initially scheduled for June 29 and 30 but had to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Beryl's impact on Quintana Roo.
