Cancun, Quintana Roo — While many enjoy summer vacations, a growing number of young people in Cancun are using the break to launch their careers. According to local officials, nearly half of participants in recent job fairs are between 18 and 29 years old.
Luis Hernández, director of the Municipal Labor Linkage Service in Benito Juárez, said that 45% of job fair attendees are aged 18 to 29, and about 10% are seeking their first job. He noted that hotels, restaurants, tourism companies, transport firms, and retailers are actively hiring, with around 2,000 positions available per event.
Hernández explained that placement rates remain steady: 30% to 40% of attendees secure a job directly from the fairs, while the rest receive follow-up for future opportunities.
With the summer season underway, some hotels have already begun recruitment drives. Officials say they will continue promoting job matching to help more young people enter the workforce.
