Cancún, Quintana Roo, January 21 — The Cancún Women’s International Half Marathon has solidified its position as one of Mexico’s most important sporting events.

Four years after marking a turning point in 2022, its growth is now decisive: for the 2026 edition, 2,500 runners representing more than 25 countries are expected, figures that confirm its international projection and the positioning of Cancún as an athletic and tourist reference at the national and international levels.

The event’s growth saw a historic leap in 2022, when it brought together 850 athletes from 21 countries, an edition that raised the competitive and organizational level of the race. On that occasion, Brazilian runner Gisele Bittencourt was proclaimed the winner of the Women’s International Half Marathon with a time of 1 hour, 28 minutes, and 43 seconds, setting a women’s record that marked a before and after in the competition’s history.

For 2026, the Women’s International Half Marathon will celebrate its eleventh edition, reaffirming itself as a platform for empowerment, inclusion, and sports projection after more than a decade of trajectory.

The competition will be run on Sunday, March 1, at 6:30 a.m., starting at Malecón Tajamar, initiating a symbolic trilogy that honors the essence, strength, and value of women inside and outside of sports.

The event, considered among the best nationally and the best organized at the state level, is held within the framework of International Women’s Day, with distances of 5, 10, and 21 kilometers, allowing the participation of athletes of all levels.

The categories will be Open, Submaster, Master, Veterans, and Veterans Plus, with a route that will include Malecón Tajamar and passage through Parque Cancún, in an urban and natural setting that distinguishes this race.

Registrations are open for a maximum quota of 2,500 athletes, through the site registro.motionevents.mx, inviting runners from Mexico and the world to be part of an emblematic race.
