Cancún, Quintana Roo — Cancún Park plans to expand its bike path, install new lighting, and extend its operating hours as part of annual improvements aimed at boosting visitor numbers, the park’s director announced. The park welcomed over 200,000 visitors in 2025.

César Barrios Mar, the park’s general director, said the upgrades include adding two kilometers to the existing bike path to attract more mountain biking enthusiasts. The park also offers around 30 art workshops and sports activities like skating.

Barrios noted that lighting improvements, funded through the Secretariat of Welfare, will allow the park to extend its hours beyond the current 5:30 p.m. closing time, which is limited by inadequate illumination in some wooded areas.

Operating costs for the park total five million pesos, covered by donations from the business sector and support from federal, state, and municipal governments. These funds enable the continuous addition of new attractions for the community.

Visitor numbers dipped during the construction of the Nichupté Lagoon Bridge due to access issues but gradually recovered as work progressed. The park ended 2025 with 200,000 visitors and expects to surpass that figure this year.
