Cancún Launches Cleanup Drive to Remove Junk and Prevent Health Hazards

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Benito Juárez municipal government has announced a week-long junk removal operation aimed at improving public health and urban cleanliness in two neighborhoods.

Authorities urged residents to dispose of unused appliances, furniture, containers, and other items that can become breeding grounds for pests and pose sanitation risks if left in yards or public spaces.

Municipal crews will collect junk in Supermanzana 227 from Monday, February 9, through Wednesday, February 11, and in Supermanzana 105 from Thursday, February 12, to Saturday, February 14. No collection is scheduled for Sunday, February 15.

The Public Services Department said it develops monthly schedules based on citizen requests and reports to systematically address junk accumulation across Cancún.

Beyond enhancing the city’s appearance, the initiative promotes proper waste management and aims to prevent the spread of disease-carrying animals that threaten public health.

Residents outside the scheduled areas who need to discard bulky items can contact the municipal WhatsApp line Reporta y Aporta at 998 844 8035.
