Motorcycle racing at the Cancún International Autodrome for the Cancún GP championship

Cancún. Sports motorcycling in Quintana Roo will experience a historic moment with the launch of the Cancún GP Championship, which will be held on Saturday, February 7 and Sunday, February 8 at the Cancún International Autodrome.

This series marks the start of a five-date season and is established as the first state speed championship endorsed in many years, with completely free entry and a family focus.

During the official presentation, Ana Campos, director of the Cancún International Autodrome and organizer of the Cancún GP, highlighted that this championship is the result of the commitment made last year to professionalize motorcycling in the state.

“The event will feature competitions, exhibitions, contests, and food services, with the goal of offering a comprehensive experience for both pilots and the attending public. The championship seeks to boost local motorcycling and integrate pilots of all levels, from low-displacement motorcycles to high-displacement motorcycles with professional preparation,” she emphasized.

The contemplated categories range from beginner, intermediate, expert, and open category levels, allowing the participation of motorcyclists who wish to debut in formal competitions in a safe and regulated environment.

For his part, Guillermo Romero, general secretary of the Quintana Roo State Sports Motorcycling Association (AMEDET), indicated that this championship represents a key step in the institutionalization of circuit speed motorcycling. He reported that registered pilots will be able to obtain their official registration as state athletes, aligning with the sports policies promoted by the state government and the Sports Commission.

Organizers Jorge Maldonado and Christopher Rojas advanced that future night dates and new sports projects are being analyzed. With this, the Cancún GP is shaping up as a solid platform for the growth of motorcycling in the state and a new option for sports entertainment for citizens.
