Cancún, Quintana Roo — Gasoline prices in Cancún remain among the highest in Mexico, with regular fuel exceeding 24 pesos per liter, according to recent reports from energy authorities.

The situation has prompted public criticism from the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), which has highlighted local stations selling fuel at prices above the national average during morning briefings. One example is the Go Gas station on Yaxchilán Avenue, which sold regular gasoline at 24.57 pesos per liter—2.82 pesos above the country’s average.

For diesel, another station of the same brand on Puerto Juárez Avenue reported a price of 28.14 pesos per liter, 3.40 pesos above the national average, also ranking among the most expensive in this category.

Although premium gasoline does not appear among the highest in the reports, overall fuel costs in Cancún continue to pressure consumers and productive sectors reliant on transportation.

It is worth noting that the federal agreement to keep regular gasoline prices below 24 pesos per liter was renewed in March 2026 for six more months, with participation from approximately 96% of the country’s stations, aiming to mitigate the effects of international price increases.

According to data from the Energy Regulatory Commission as of March 19, the average price in Cancún stands at 24.57 pesos for regular gasoline, 27.43 pesos for premium, and 29.08 pesos for diesel, confirming the upward trend in the region.
