Cancún, Mexico — Cancún’s beaches will reinforce their security, cleaning, and tourist services during December and early January, with increased personnel and extended hours.
With the arrival of the high season at the end of the year, Cancún authorities will implement substantial improvements in beach services to attend to the growing tourist influx. During December and the first days of January, 60 new employees will be incorporated in cleaning, surveillance, and operational support tasks, reaching a total of 140 collaborators distributed in two shifts from six in the morning until ten at night.
Additionally, public restroom hours will be extended, authorized by the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone, allowing their opening from 8:00 to 18:00 hours, with the possibility of extending until 19:00 on days of greater influx. This measure seeks to improve visitor comfort, especially during peak hours on the beaches.
An increase in waste generation is anticipated, reaching up to 40% more during these dates, mainly due to the consumption of beverages and food in disposable packaging. However, awareness campaigns promoted throughout the year seek to promote responsible practices and the use of reusable containers, generating less environmental impact.
The reinforcement in cleaning and security personnel aims to guarantee optimal conditions on the beaches, supporting lifeguards and monitoring access points to offer a safe and pleasant experience during one of the periods of highest tourist influx in the region.
