Mexico City — Mexico has taken a decisive step toward technological autonomy with the introduction of I’AM, the first national generative artificial intelligence platform developed and operated entirely within the country. The project, driven by the company IAMEX (Inteligencia Artificial de México) and backed by NVIDIA, sets a precedent in the region by also being the largest AI infrastructure in Latin America.
Mexican Technology with International Standards
I’AM was created by a team of Mexican specialists in data science and Python programming. The development took one year of continuous work, integrating tools for image generation, computer vision, and search agents, adapted to the language and cultural context of Mexico.
The platform's language models already operate on NVIDIA H100, A100, RTX, and the new HGX B200 (Blackwell) servers, acquired through Gigabyte and IT Creations. With an installed capacity of 6 megawatts, IAMEX becomes the first Mexican company to use this cutting-edge infrastructure, with expansion plans underway.
"The joint work with IAMEX represents an important step toward a sovereign technological infrastructure in Mexico. At NVIDIA, we believe in the power of artificial intelligence as an engine for social, economic, and scientific transformation," said Marcio Aguiar, director of the Enterprise Division for NVIDIA Latin America.
AI with National Identity and Data
I’AM has been trained with data in Spanish and Mexican cultural references, allowing it to maintain natural and contextualized conversations. The platform is already active in Mexico as an interactive demo and will be implemented in sectors such as education, health, economy, culture, science, industry, agriculture, and government.
IAMEX maintains total control over its infrastructure and the data it processes, which remains within the national territory and under the Mexican legal framework. In parallel, the company offers its technology through APIs so that other organizations can integrate their own AI solutions, positioning itself as an authentic Mexican AI Factory.
Democratizing AI from Mexico
The founder and CEO of IAMEX, Raúl Manzano Díaz, explained that the project's main objective is "to develop an artificial intelligence made in Mexico, for Mexico, with international standards and local roots." He added that its purpose is to democratize access to artificial intelligence, offering a basic free version for the entire population.
I’AM will be officially presented during the IA+ México event on November 12 and 13 at Expo Santa Fe, where its upcoming projects, use cases, and new phases of international expansion will be announced.
Cancún, a Seedbed of Technological Innovation
The leadership of IAMEX confirms the growth of technological innovation in Quintana Roo. In 2015, the Agencia Punk eMarketing & Consulting, based in Cancún, was selected by the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez to develop the official application for the Mexican Grand Prix. Behind the project were five young people from Cancún, graduates of the Universidad del Caribe and Universidad La Salle, who at just 25 years of age took their talent to the international stage.
Today, a decade later, another company originating from Cancún places Mexico on the global artificial intelligence map, reaffirming that the Mexican Caribbean is also a territory of innovation.
