Cancún, Mexico — Following nearly six hours of exhaustive dossier reviews, the Commission for Analysis and Ruling presented its results to the General Council, the body responsible for reviewing and validating the corresponding official record. After this process, the winners of the 2025 Municipal Award for Sporting Merit were officially ratified. This is the highest distinction awarded by the Benito Juárez Municipal Government, through the Sports Institute, to the most outstanding figures in the local sports arena of the year.
The selection of the awardees was the responsibility of the Commission for Analysis and Ruling, with the presence of the municipal president, Ana Paty Peralta, and the director general of the Sports Institute, Alejandro Luna López. They highlighted the high caliber of the proposals received this year and emphasized the administration's commitment to inclusive sports development.
In the Athlete category, the jury recognized the high level of competition and trajectory of:
- Andrea Martínez Perdomo, in Flag Football
- Valentina Barrios Castañeda, in Taekwondo
- Alexis Salvador Lara Arceo, in Weightlifting
Meanwhile, in the Adapted Athlete category, the recognition was awarded to:
- Yurahí Jael Dzib Coli, in Paradance Sport
- Diego Hernández Fernández, in Paraswimming
Additionally, winners were selected in their respective categories:
- Sports Promoter: Armando de Jesús Góngora Duarte
- Physical Education Teacher: José Guadalupe López Salazar
- Sports Press: Manuel Arbey Dzib Cahuich
- Sports Committee: Areli Lili Uluac Sosa
- Team Sport: Synchronized Swimming Team, Junior Category
- Adapted Sports Coach: Yasmín Hernández Valera
- Coach: Sinuhe Peniche Aragón
As part of the recognition for the effort and dedication of all participants, honorary mentions were also awarded to:
- Gustavo Adolfo Martínez Acosta, Kickboxing
- Jair Vázquez Aguilar, Futsal
- Gustavo José Martínez Sánchez, Kickboxing
- Mario Flores García, of Sipse TVCun
- José “Pepé” Gómez of Cancún Boxing
- Monserrat Zaldívar, Soccer Player for Club América
- Aldo Vidal, President of the Quintana Roo Paddle Association.
The winners will be honored at a special gala. Furthermore, the awardees will lead the Civic-Sports Parade on November 20, as a symbol of the commitment, talent, and sporting passion that characterize the community.
With this award, the Municipal Government reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting sports as a tool for social transformation, inclusion, and pride for Benito Juárez.
