Drunk Driving Crash Injures Two in Yoactún Indigenous Community

Accident scene in Yoactún indigenous community with emergency responders

Yoactún, Quintana Roo — Two people were severely injured after the vehicle they were traveling in crashed into a pole supporting the electrical grid in the community of Yoactún. Both the driver and passenger were trapped inside the vehicle and were rescued by Red Cross paramedics, who provided first aid and transported them to the general hospital of this city.

The incident occurred on one of the streets of the indigenous community of Yoactún after 1:00 PM, when a brutal crash was reported after a Tsuru crashed into an electrical pole, resulting in two injured people in a visible state of intoxication.

Numerous neighbors gathered at the accident site, observing what happened: two people aboard a red Nissan Tsuru, with Quintana Roo license plates, in a state of intoxication, ended up colliding with a fixed object.

It emerged that the sedan driver was visibly drunk, and neighbors had never seen him drive before; apparently, under the influence of alcohol, he decided to get behind the wheel, causing the crash.

The vehicle owner, who was traveling in the back seat, also suffered injuries in different parts of the body. Red Cross paramedics traveled more than 60 kilometers from the municipal headquarters to attend to the emergency.

Elements of the Municipal Transit Directorate arrived at the scene, conducting forensic work to determine responsibility.
