Cancun, Quintana Roo — The body of a man wrapped in blankets was discovered Monday morning on Avenida Bonampak, next to the Candelario Lira sports complex in Cancun.
Residents of the Supermanzana 75 neighborhood reported the find around 8 a.m., prompting a large police response. Municipal police officers confirmed the presence of a male body of medium build with dark skin.
According to initial reports, the victim was wrapped in a blanket and covered with black plastic bags. Authorities cordoned off the area and requested the intervention of the State Prosecutor’s Office.
Witnesses at the scene said individuals may have transported the body to the location using a shopping cart. The victim had visible injuries to the face and was tied with a rope. He remains unidentified.
Forensic investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office processed the scene and removed the body, which was taken to the Forensic Medical Service for examination.
On Saturday, human remains were found in a green area in the same vicinity, a case that remains under investigation by ministerial authorities.
