Cancun, Quintana Roo — Authorities have identified a body found inside an abandoned refrigerator in Cancun as a missing 16-year-old boy. The discovery was made on Sunday morning, April 5, on a dirt road in the Dos Rios area of Region 252.

The victim, a Mexican national with a slender build and standing 1.6 meters tall, was last seen in the Benito Juarez municipality of Quintana Roo. He had been reported missing under case number 374/ZN/CBPEQROO/2026.

Officials confirmed late Sunday that the body, which showed clear signs of severe violence, matched the description of the missing teenager. The refrigerator had been dumped on an access road connecting to Galaxias del Sol Avenue.

A recyclable materials collector discovered the body while passing through the area and immediately alerted emergency services after noticing the refrigerator’s contents.
