Tulum, Mexico — Personnel from Tulum’s Civil Protection Directorate secured a boa constrictor found in a residential area of the municipality after receiving a citizen report alerting authorities to the reptile’s presence. According to the agency, the capture was conducted without incident and in compliance with established protocols for the safe handling of wildlife.
Safe Relocation and Evaluation
Once secured, the specimen was handed over to the Department of Natural Resources under the Directorate of Environment. Environmental authorities confirmed that the boa will undergo evaluation before being released into a suitable habitat, far from urban zones, to ensure the safety of both the animal and the public.
Ongoing Conservation Efforts
This operation is part of ongoing efforts to preserve the municipality’s biodiversity and raise awareness about the importance of protecting wild species native to the region. Authorities urged residents to remain calm if encountering wildlife and to avoid attempting captures on their own. Instead, they advised contacting Civil Protection or Environmental authorities for proper handling.
The incident underscores the need for coexistence with local wildlife while maintaining safety measures for both humans and animals.
