Cancún Operation Nabs Drug Dealers, Finds Missing Teens

Cancún, Mexico — Authorities from three levels of government achieved a dual outcome in Cancún: the capture of two alleged drug distributors and the location of two minors who had been reported missing.

As part of the "Blindaje Cancún" operation, coordinated with the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) and federal authorities, Cristian Guadalupe "N", aged 26, and Esteban Haziel "N", aged 25, were detained for their alleged involvement in crimes against public health in the form of drug dealing.

The events occurred in the vicinity of the Supermanzana 259 district, where security forces were conducting preventative patrols and surveillance. During these actions, they detected the individuals exchanging substances. Upon inspection, authorities seized 102 small bags of marijuana, 90 small bags of crystalline fragments, and a 9 mm caliber firearm with four live cartridges.

During the intervention, the operation also succeeded in locating and rescuing two adolescents, who had been reported missing since November 5. Both were placed under the care of the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender-Based Violence (GEAVIG), in accordance with protocols for the protection of children and adolescents.

The detainees were turned over to the FGE to continue with the corresponding investigations.
