Progreso, Yucatan — As Easter 2026 and other holiday periods approach, demand for beach house rentals along the Yucatan coast has surged, particularly in destinations like Progreso, Chelem, and Chicxulub Puerto.
Families and groups of friends increasingly opt to rent entire properties for weekends or full weeks, driving a clear trend of rising prices as peak season nears.
In the port of Progreso, one of the most accessible destinations with extensive tourist infrastructure, weekend rentals for standard houses typically range from 5,000 to 12,000 pesos. Weekly rentals can cost between 12,000 and 25,000 pesos, depending on proximity to the sea, capacity, and amenities like swimming pools or air conditioning.
In Chelem, known for its quieter, more residential atmosphere, prices tend to be slightly higher for well-equipped properties. A weekend rental may cost between 7,000 and 15,000 pesos, while weekly rates range from 15,000 to 30,000 pesos. Beachfront homes or those offering greater privacy often command the highest prices during holidays.
Chicxulub Puerto, one of the most sought-after locations due to its proximity to Merida and modern housing options, shows greater price variation. Renting a house for a weekend can cost from 8,000 to over 18,000 pesos, while weekly prices range from 18,000 to 40,000 pesos or more for beachfront properties or those with premium amenities.
