Cancún — For the first time, the Barça Academy, the official training program of FC Barcelona, will be held in Cancún for a five-day period at the facilities of the Universidad Anáhuac Cancún, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced.
During the five days, coaches linked to the Catalan club—one of the most recognized teams in international football—will impart 20 hours of training and matches aimed at girls, boys, and young adults between the ages of 5 and 18, added the head of the Executive branch.
The methodology applied is the same that has contributed to the formation of world football figures such as Gavi or Dani Olmo, she added, accompanied by Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña.
"Every girl, every boy who enters this field will carry a dream that they can fulfill. We are here to accompany them on the path, because the health, well-being, and dreams of our girls, our boys, and our young people, of course, matter to us. We continue working at the field level, united to transform," the Governor stated.
Program Schedule and Local Impact
The program will begin on December 9 with the distribution of uniforms and a training session for local coaches, who will subsequently provide follow-up to the knowledge acquired in the clinic. Formal training sessions will commence on December 10.
In her invitation to Quintana Roo athletes, Mara Lezama confirmed that registrations are open through the official website www.soyacademy.com.
The Governor emphasized that this project seeks to foster a passion for football, promote the well-being of the children and youth of Quintana Roo, and demonstrate the power of sport as a tool for social transformation.
