Bank Customer Robbed of Over 1 Million Pesos After Leaving Scotiabank in Cancún

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A bank customer was robbed of approximately 1.2 million pesos after withdrawing cash from a Scotiabank branch in Cancún’s Supermanzana 310 neighborhood on Monday.

According to initial 911 reports, the victim, identified as Óscar “N,” had placed 750,000 pesos in a laptop case inside his truck while exchanging checks at the bank located in La Roca plaza on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard. When he returned to his vehicle, he discovered the passenger door had been forced open and the case containing the money was missing.

Police officers from both the Municipal Police and Ministerial Police responded promptly to the scene and launched an investigation. Personnel from the State Prosecutor’s Office collected evidence and began investigative procedures to clarify the circumstances of the robbery.

Óscar “N” was taken to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to give his official statement while agents continued gathering evidence at the crime scene. Investigators plan to review nearby surveillance cameras and traffic records to identify those responsible.

Authorities have kept the investigation open and have not ruled out making arrests in the coming hours. They are asking the public for any information that could help locate the suspects.
