Cancún, Quintana Roo — State authorities have shut down the bar “Tiburón Feliz” in Cancún after a major inspection operation found it was operating without the required legal permits.
The operation took place on Niños Héroes Avenue in Region 221, where inspectors from the Quintana Roo state government conducted a verification check to ensure compliance with regulations. They determined the business lacked the necessary documentation to operate legally and ordered its immediate closure.
National Guard and Mexican Army personnel secured the perimeter and provided security during the administrative review inside the establishment. The inspection aimed to verify the bar had the proper operating licenses and permits, but irregularities in the paperwork led to the shutdown order.
During the procedure, workers at the bar, primarily waitresses, left the premises and observed from a distance without intervening.
Officials noted that the establishment previously operated under the name “El Acuario” but had been closed for a period following some armed attacks. It reopened months ago as “Tiburón Feliz,” but has now been shut down again for failing to have its documentation in order.
The support of federal forces allowed the inspection to proceed without incident, ensuring the safety of state inspectors as they carried out their work.
