Law enforcement officials with seized drugs and motorcycle in Quintana Roo, Mexico

Cancún, Mexico — The Federal Government’s Security Cabinet reported that coordinated actions between federal and state authorities in Quintana Roo resulted in multiple arrests, raids, and the seizure of firearms and various types of narcotics.

Major Drug Busts in Bacalar and Limones

In Bacalar, personnel from the National Guard (GN), Mexican Army, Navy (Semar), and State Police raided a property, detaining three individuals. Authorities confiscated 250 kilograms of marijuana, 3.1 kilograms of cocaine, ammunition magazines, 129 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is 1.5 million pesos.

In the nearby village of Limones, a joint operation involving Semar, the Mexican Army, GN, and the State Public Security Ministry (SSC) led to the arrest of three more suspects. Officers recovered a package of cocaine, 200 kilograms of marijuana, five kilograms of methamphetamine, two boxes of live ammunition, and tactical equipment.

Additional Seizure in Puerto Morelos

In a separate incident, Navy personnel in Puerto Morelos discovered and retrieved a bundle of marijuana mixed with collected sargassum seaweed.

National Security Strategy in Action

The Security Cabinet highlighted these operations as part of the National Security Strategy, which focuses on four key pillars: addressing root causes, consolidating the National Guard, strengthening intelligence and investigations, and coordinating with state governments.

Drone Surveillance Efforts

Over the past week, the "Itzamná" drone unit of the Citizen Security Secretariat conducted 97 tactical drone flights, covering 138 kilometers along the state’s coastline as part of crime prevention measures. In the southern region, surveillance flights supported interagency operations, including reconnaissance missions along the Huay Pix-Juan Sarabia highway, the Sergio Butrón village, and the Calderitas-Luis Echeverría highway.

These operations underscore ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime in Quintana Roo.
