Chetumal, Quintana Roo — A joint operation led by the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) dismantled a clandestine surveillance center operated by a criminal group in Chetumal, resulting in five arrests across 16 raids.

The operation, coordinated with federal and state forces, targeted properties in the Subteniente López neighborhood and other parts of the state capital.

Illegal Monitoring Hub Seized

In the first raid on Oaxaca Street in Subteniente López, authorities seized 24 cameras installed at 17 strategic points. The equipment was connected to three televisions operating permanently, allowing the group to monitor various locations in the city.

Near the site, police arrested Rudy “N,” Adriel Osvin “N,” and Fariay Edith “N,” who are suspected of involvement in drug trafficking offenses.

Additional Raids and Seizures

Subsequent operations included 12 more raids in Subteniente López and three in Chetumal city. Authorities confiscated an additional 113 cameras, 14 DVRs, four vehicles—one reported stolen—a motorcycle, .22 caliber weapons, communication equipment, and substances resembling marijuana and cocaine.

Close to one of the raided properties, officers detained Geovanny Abdiel “N” and Raymel Nahem “N,” seizing what appeared to be narcotics from them.

The five detainees have been handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status.
