Early this morning, dozens of individuals attempted to illegally occupy state, municipal, and private lands located south of Playa del Carmen. The representatives of a private property, known as "San Ignacio", alerted the police when they noticed a group of people trying to invade the land.
Police authorities promptly arrived at the scene to prevent the unauthorized occupation. The owner of the property, when interviewed, claimed that the invaders had reportedly been deceived into purchasing lands that were not rightfully theirs.
After a standoff lasting two hours, the group attempting to occupy the lands peacefully withdrew. No incidents were reported during the confrontation.
