Mérida, Yucatán — The art exhibition “Vivencias del Mayab” has opened at the gallery of the historic José Peón Contreras Theater, showcasing the work of Yucatecan artist Renán Tutzin. The collection features paintings inspired by the landscapes, homes, and cultural spaces of the Yucatán Peninsula.
This is Tutzin’s ninth exhibition. Among the pieces are acrylic canvases that serenely depict daily activities in the region, including scenes inspired by Hacienda Xcumpich, the tranquility of Progreso with women wearing traditional huipils, and images marked by local nature.
Tutzin, a native of Seyé, comes from a three-generation artistic tradition. He began painting at an early age, following in the footsteps of his father, renowned painter Faustino Tutzin Itzá.
His work has gained international recognition, with pieces acquired by collectors in France, Germany, Australia, and Dubai.
The exhibition comprises 32 works and offers a cultural opportunity to explore the living heritage of the Mayab region.
