Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — An alleged bullying case at a primary school escalated into a confrontation between a student’s father and the school principal, requiring police intervention on Thursday.

The incident occurred at Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Primary School, located at the intersection of Flor de Romero and Lilis avenues in the Misión de las Flores neighborhood. The GEAVIG unit of the Quintana Roo Public Security Department responded to the scene.

According to preliminary information, the child had reported being repeatedly bullied by other students, with the harassment intensifying to concerning levels. After learning about the situation from his son, the father went to the school to speak with the principal about the matter.

What began as a discussion quickly deteriorated into a heated verbal altercation between the two adults. Police officers arrived and were preparing to detain both individuals when the situation de-escalated.

Upon hearing they might be arrested, both the principal and father calmed down and agreed to resolve the bullying issue privately, though with GEAVIG officials present to mediate.

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine appropriate next steps and ensure the bullying allegations are properly addressed.
