Playa del Carmen, Mexico – A driver who was allegedly operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol was detained and turned over to the appropriate authorities after causing a traffic accident by crossing CTM Avenue, where he collided with a public transport van.
According to initial reports, the motorist allegedly entered the roadway without due caution, cutting across just as the van was proceeding with the right of way. Due to the sudden maneuver, the transport unit was unable to brake in time and ended up crashing directly into the door of the private vehicle, which was severely damaged.
Following the impact, the driver of the car sustained minor injuries, primarily cuts caused by glass, after the windows shattered at the moment of the collision. Paramedics assessed the situation and determined that transport to a hospital was not necessary.
In the case of the van, it was reported that it was not carrying a considerable number of passengers and, fortunately, no injuries were reported, including the driver of the unit.
Witnesses indicated that, after the incident, both parties were in dialogue and insurance adjusters had already arrived to carry out the corresponding procedures. However, during the intervention of Transit officers, the officials detected that the driver of the private vehicle had alcoholic breath.
Given this situation, the motorist was taken into custody and transferred to be placed at the disposal of the competent authority, where his legal situation will be determined in accordance with established protocols.
Although there were no serious injuries, the material damages were substantial, primarily to the private car and the public transport van.
According to the traffic report, the van was traveling from north to south, while the private vehicle was traveling from west to east, when the crash occurred.
The authorities reiterated the call to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol and to respect traffic signs to prevent accidents.
