Mérida, Yucatán — Air Canada will launch a new seasonal route connecting Toronto and Mérida, Mexico, as part of its winter 2026-2027 schedule, officials announced. The flights are set to operate twice weekly from November 21, 2026, through April 17, 2027.
The route will run on Mondays and Saturdays, targeting Canadian travelers seeking warm-weather destinations during the winter months. The Yucatán Tourism Promotion Secretariat (Sefotur) said the new service reflects growing confidence in the region’s tourism market and will enhance international connectivity at Mérida International Airport.
“This new connection expands our access to the Canadian market and strengthens the international connectivity of Mérida’s airport,” Sefotur stated. The agency credited the move to favorable investment conditions and coordinated efforts with airport operator Grupo Asur and ongoing negotiations with airlines.
For Air Canada, the route represents a strategic expansion into Latin America and the Caribbean, capitalizing on Yucatán’s cultural, historical, and culinary attractions. Mérida serves as a gateway to archaeological sites, beaches, and other key destinations across the peninsula.
This will be the second seasonal operation on the Toronto-Mérida route, further solidifying Yucatán’s appeal to Canadian visitors. The state has been actively working to boost its international tourism profile through increased air service.
