Deadly Van Crash on Tulum Highway Leaves 10 Injured

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — A passenger van overturned on the Felipe Carrillo Puerto-Tulum highway, resulting in one fatality and ten injuries. The incident occurred along the notorious stretch of Federal Highway 307, known locally as the “Highway of Death.”

Details of the Crash

The accident took place at kilometer 145+500 of the Reforma Agraria-Puerto Juárez Federal Highway 307. The van, belonging to the transportation company UNTRAC, flipped, trapping one male passenger inside. Authorities confirmed the individual showed no signs of life upon arrival.

Emergency responders, including Red Cross paramedics and Civil Protection units, transported the injured to the general hospital in Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The severity of their injuries remains undisclosed.

Authorities Respond

National Guard personnel secured the scene and conducted forensic investigations. Red Cross teams provided immediate first aid to the wounded before their transfer to medical facilities.

The highway has been the site of multiple fatal accidents in recent months, raising concerns over road safety in the region.

Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the cause of the latest accident.
