The Maya Train is projected to reach an 80% occupancy rate during the peak winter season, following the initiation of services on the Playa del Carmen-Tulum route. Felipe Ayala Chávez, the Head of Operations for the Maya Train, noted that the highest demand currently lies on the Cancún-Mérida route. However, the influx from Playa del Carmen to Tulum, part of the disputed Tramo 5 Sur, has yet to be assessed.

Chávez anticipates a surge in tourists in December, particularly from Europe, where train travel is a popular mode of transportation across various regions. He emphasized the importance of refining the service to parallel the standards of European trains.

According to available data, the Maya Train successfully transported 288,814 premier and tourist passengers, both local and international, from January to June 2024.

Chávez also mentioned plans to commence services from Tulum to the Chetumal station within a month. This route has experienced delays due to incomplete track construction. While no specific start date has been confirmed, Chávez stated, "We are in the final stage, the testing phase, so there is no defined date. We expect that in the near future, perhaps within a month, we will be operational."
