The National Meteorological Service has reported that Tropical Storm Nadine, which originated in the Caribbean Sea, is expected to bring a period of heavy rainfall to the Yucatan Peninsula and the southeast region of the country.

Nadine evolved from the potential tropical cyclone Fifteen and is currently located approximately 205 kilometers southeast of Puerto Costa Maya, Quintana Roo, and 190 kilometers east of Belize City. The storm is exhibiting sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 85 kilometers per hour, and is moving westward at a speed of 13 kilometers per hour.

The broad circulation of Nadine, in combination with the frontal system number 4, is predicted to cause torrential rains in Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatan. Along with this, wind gusts ranging from 60 to 80 kilometers per hour and waves measuring 2 to 4 meters high are expected along the coasts of these states. There is also potential for the formation of water spouts. Residents of these states are being warned that the heavy rainfall could lead to flooding, increased river and stream levels, and potential landslides.

In collaboration with the United States National Hurricane Center, the National Meteorological Service has established a prevention zone from Tulum to Chetumal, Quintana Roo, which includes Cozumel, due to the potential impact of Nadine. The center of the storm is projected to make landfall in northern Belize, approximately 70 km south of Chetumal, Quintana Roo, by noon on Saturday.

Tropical Storm Nadine has slightly intensified, and its interaction with Front Number 4 is expected to continue the pattern of intense to torrential rains. This could lead to waterlogging and flooding in the Yucatan Peninsula, along with strong wind gusts and high waves. The center of Tropical Storm Nadine is again expected to hit northern Belize, approximately 70 km south of Chetumal, Quintana Roo, around noon on Saturday.
