Police Chase Ends in Arrest at Cancun Supermarket

A police operation was triggered in Cancun on Thursday following an attempted shooting involving two minors. The incident led to a pursuit and the subsequent arrest of two or three suspected attackers inside a Chedraui supermarket. The attack occurred around 11:00 AM, with reports of gunshots near the Police Academy in Region 247. Initial reports suggest that the minors were shot while in the area and were immediately rushed to the General Hospital by family members in a white car parked outside the hospital. Both teenagers are currently receiving medical treatment in the emergency room.

The incident prompted a swift response from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC), the Navy, the National Guard, and the Mexican Army, with the activation of the Red Code. Witnesses reported that the attackers fled the scene in a vehicle, sparking a chase in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Fear spread quickly within the Chedraui shopping center in Supermanzana 103, located on Talleres avenue with Chac Mool, as the attackers attempted to evade the police by entering the supermarket. This led to a panic among customers, who quickly evacuated the premises.

Police officers entered the supermarket and successfully located and apprehended the suspects. While the identities of the detainees have not been confirmed, it is suspected that they may be responsible for the shooting.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motives behind the attack, which left two teenagers injured. The minors are currently receiving medical care at the General Hospital, and police continue to maintain a presence in the area.
