Governor-elect Joaquín Díaz Mena announced the first 25 members of his cabinet today, who will serve for the next six years. The cabinet includes former members of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), National Action Party (PAN), members of civil society, and founders of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) in Yucatán.
The cabinet is balanced in terms of gender, with nine men and nine women holding first-level secretary positions. Díaz Mena expressed his confidence in his team, thanked them for accepting their roles, and urged them to perform their duties with humanity, responsibility, and honesty.
Former PRI and PAN members hold key roles in the cabinet, including the Secretary of Public Works, Legal Advisor, and Secretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture. Founders of Morena have been appointed to positions such as Secretary of Health, Secretary of Women, Secretary of Welfare, and Secretary of Sustainable Development, among others.
The cabinet also includes officials from civil society in roles such as Secretary of Culture and the Arts, and Secretary of Economic Promotion and Work. Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda has been confirmed as Secretary of Public Security.
Further appointments will be announced next week.
