Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Two individuals who stole controlled medications from a pharmacy in the Palmas II subdivision were apprehended in a green area after attempting to flee on foot, abandoning an unlicensed vehicle in the process.
The incident occurred after emergency 911 lines received a report of a violent robbery at a pharmacy located on Avenida Flor de Ciruelos at Bulevar Palmas. According to the preliminary report, two subjects entered a pharmacy in the aforementioned subdivision and threatened employees to hand over controlled medications.
Without paying for the merchandise, the suspects fled with the stolen goods in a black Journey-type truck bearing no license plates. However, employees made a timely report to the authorities, prompting the police to deploy an operation in the area.
The suspects, feeling cornered by the police, abandoned the truck at the intersection of Palma Cana and Palma Navidad streets and fled into the brush. During the operation, police arrested the two robbery suspects and secured the truck. The detainees and the vehicle were subsequently turned over to the State Attorney General's Office.
