Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Legal advisors for Roberto González, the victim of an assault by an individual known as Lord Cobarde, have initiated their defense in a new trial through which his aggressor is seeking to annul a 10-year prison sentence.

The First Collegiate Court of Circuit in Cancún reported that the legal representation for the victim appeared within the appeal process started by the sentenced individual, Rodrigo “N”, alias Lord Cobarde.

A judicial agreement relative to the direct amparo trial 312/2025 states: “In a different aspect, let it be noted in the records the different document signed by (…) through which they appear in this trial in their capacity as an interested third party; consider as authorized in the terms indicated the persons referred to, as having been so requested.”

Lord Cobarde initiated this legal recourse against the sentence issued by the Eighth Specialized Chamber in Criminal Matters, which reaffirmed the 10-year prison sentence issued by a Criminal Court in Playa del Carmen. This sentence is for the assault he committed against Roberto González, who has stated he has found neither justice nor reparations for the damage, despite assertions to the contrary by the Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office.

The sentence declaring Lord Cobarde guilty was reported one year ago and was interpreted as a victory, following the assault against Roberto that occurred in January 2017 in the La Joya subdivision of this city.

Although the individual has been declared criminally responsible, he has not set foot in jail because Mexican law allows for this while the sentence can still be appealed in other judicial instances. In the case of this direct amparo trial, it is his final opportunity to evade justice.

Lord Cobarde was recently granted an extension to his lawsuit, through which he seeks to mount his defense. The same judicial agreement states: “The extension of the amparo lawsuit promoted by the plaintiff is admitted for processing.”

Several days ago, Roberto González disseminated a video on social media in which he affirms that his health situation is worsening as a consequence of the severe blows inflicted by this individual, which left him immobilized.
