Mexico City — Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena has announced Yucatán Week in Mexico 2025, to be held from October 3 to 12 in Mexico City. The event will showcase the state's cultural and gastronomic richness, framed by a historic federal investment of 49 billion pesos in infrastructure.

The Governor stated that the Palacio de los Deportes will become the epicenter of Yucatecan culture during the event, which will project the cultural wealth, cuisine, and the process of economic and social transformation the state is undergoing.

At a press conference held at the offices of the Representation of the Government of Yucatán in the country's capital, Díaz Mena emphasized that the federal government, the Government of the Maya Renaissance, and private industry will jointly invest approximately 49 billion pesos in strategic infrastructure works for Yucatán. This investment is expected to generate jobs, spur development, and consolidate the local economy.

Among the highlighted projects are the construction of 80 hectares of new platform with terminals, as well as the railway section of the Maya Train that will connect Umán with Puerto Progreso and the Wellbeing Poles, facilitating freight transport and regional competitiveness.

“There will be 80 new hectares of platform with terminals different from those that exist today, but also the Maya Train that will go from Umán to Puerto Progreso and will facilitate the transport of cargo and connect it with the trans-isthmus corridor. These works would not be possible without the support of Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum, our President, who is making an investment of 49 billion pesos in our state,” he highlighted.

Díaz Mena also expressed his deepest solidarity with the families of the victims of the tragedy that occurred the previous day at the Puente de la Concordia, reiterating the support and closeness of the people of Yucatán with Mexico City, as well as a message of support and affection to the Head of Government, Clara Brugada Molina.

Regarding Yucatán Week in Mexico 2025, the state leader elaborated that more than 170 exhibitors, including artisans, traditional cooks, artists, and businesspeople, will showcase the best of living Mayan tradition in the capital city. This will include embroidery, textiles, music, dance, regional theater, a gala with the Orquesta Típica Yucalpetén, a vaquería at the Monument to the Revolution, and a special tribute to Armando Manzanero.

Four restaurants will offer emblematic dishes such as cochinita pibil, roast suckling pig, sopa de lima, salbutes, and panuchos, consolidating Yucatecan cuisine as an ambassador of its identity.

Díaz Mena emphasized that this event not only reflects the cultural pride of Yucatán but also the economic and infrastructure transformation being driven by his administration in coordination with the Government of Mexico.

He added that Yucatán Week in Mexico 2025 will also serve as a business platform by fostering meetings between Yucatecan companies and firms from the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico.

“We want families from the capital to feel a part of Yucatán, so that when walking the aisles of this event they can hear the Mayan language, see the textiles up close, taste our flavors, and admire everything that our artisans do, of which there are more than 12 thousand according to the registry we have in Yucatán,” he said.

Díaz Mena thanked the support of the business chambers and President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, whom he recognized for her constant support of projects seeking to trigger development with social justice.

Accompanying the Governor at the presentation were the Secretary of Tourism Development (Sefotur), Darío Flota; the Representative of the Government of Yucatán in Mexico, Víctor López Martínez; the head of the Secretariat of Economy and Labor, Ermilo Barrera Novelo; the president of the CCE Yucatán, Claudia Góngora González; the president of the National Chamber of the Apparel Industry (Canaive) in Yucatán, Gerardo González Morales; and the president of the Maquiladora and Export Manufacturing Industry Association of Yucatán (Index), Ángel López Rodríguez.
