Bacalar, Quintana Roo — The Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) has allocated two parcels of land, reclaimed from the sea, to the municipality of Bacalar for use as public beaches for recreation and leisure, with no authorization granted for any construction work or installation.
According to a publication made on Thursday, September 11, in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF), the allocation consists of two surfaces. The first is an area of 1,991.66 square meters of federal maritime-terrestrial zone, located on Paloma Torcaza street, kilometer 28+855 Uvero-Puerta Herrero, in the locality of Uvero, at El Maizal beach in the municipality of Bacalar.
The second property corresponds to a surface area of 2,036.28 square meters of federal maritime-terrestrial zone, located on X'Killih street, coastal road kilometer 31+760 Uvero-Puerta Herrero, in the locality of La Casona, at El Coral beach in the municipality of Bacalar.
This concession responds to a request made by the municipality of Bacalar to the federal government in 2022, following the accreditation of land use compatibility for the requested surface area. This agreement only confers upon the municipality of Bacalar the right to use the designated surface area for the stated purpose; it does not transfer ownership nor create any real right in favor of the recipient, in accordance with the provisions of the General Law of National Assets and other applicable legal regulations.
In the event that the municipality of Bacalar uses the allocated federal maritime-terrestrial zone for a purpose other than that stipulated in the agreement without prior authorization from the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources, or ceases to use or need it, the land with all its improvements and accessions will be withdrawn from its service and administered by the Secretariat.
