Playa del Carmen, Mexico — In a commitment to building an accessible and inclusive city, the DIF Playa del Carmen, through the Municipal Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center (CRIM), conducted a session titled "Sensitization on Inclusive and Accessible Treatment for Persons with Disabilities," aimed at personnel from the Transit Department.

The coordinator of the CRIM, Leandro Acosta, explained that the training sought to help agents understand the daily needs of persons with disabilities and foster empathetic and respectful treatment.

"With this initiative, we strengthen the values of empathy and inclusion, so that Playa del Carmen is a dignified and accessible space for both our people and those who visit this destination, moving from 'all inclusive' to 'all included,' as has been the instruction of our municipal president, Estefanía Mercado," he emphasized.

During the activity, transit personnel participated in simulation exercises for visual, auditory, and motor disabilities, which allowed them to experientially understand the challenges faced daily by persons with disabilities. This dynamic promoted teamwork and reinforced concepts such as integration, inclusion, and accessibility.

Furthermore, different types of disabilities were addressed: motor (congenital or acquired), intellectual (including those that are not visible), as well as visual and auditory disabilities, highlighting the importance of technical and social supports that facilitate mobility, communication, and autonomy.

Leandro Acosta underscored that disability should not be viewed solely as a physical or mental condition, but as a social issue that demands support, respect, and accessibility. He added that all people have abilities and rights, and that anyone could face a situation of disability at some point in their life.

With these actions, the DIF Playa del Carmen, headed by its honorary president, Eduardo Asencio, reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting a culture of inclusion and respect, where every person can develop fully regardless of their conditions.
