QUINTANA ROO, Mexico — The Secretary of Federal Tourism (Sectur), Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, has announced that the "Maya World Experiences Guide" will be formally presented next week from Quintana Roo. The initiative is designed to boost community-based tourism throughout the region.

The federal official stated that, following the success of the Maya Ka'an project, this new guide will serve to highlight tourism that is both marketable and located within the communities of the peninsula.

"It's not just the 12 major destinations, but also community tourism; for example, Maya Ka'an, which I always enjoy explaining during the morning press conferences," affirmed the head of Sectur.

Rodríguez Zamora asserted that Quintana Roo remains a world leader in tourism, with a number of hotel rooms that surpasses that of Paris.

The Secretary highlighted the administration of the current Governor of Quintana Roo for, among other things, having promoted community tourism as an additional option to the 12 destinations within the state.

"The purpose of community tourism is to promote sustainable development, elevate the quality of life in communities, and guarantee that benefits are distributed fairly, in accordance with the mandate of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. At the same time, it seeks to preserve the environment and safeguard the cultural wealth of our country," she stated.

Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that the National Guide of Community Tourism Experiences will help position these initiatives on digital platforms and in national and international markets. It will be featured on Visit México, the Mexico Tourist Tianguis 2026, FITUR, various tourism fairs, and on the official websites of the states.
