Cancún — A taxi ended up at the bottom of roadworks on Talleres Avenue in Cancún on Thursday morning after the driver allegedly failed to notice warning signage in the area.
According to initial reports, the driver was proceeding normally when, upon reaching a section under repair, he failed to brake in time and fell directly into the pit. The depth of the excavation caused considerable damage to the vehicle.
Despite the dramatic nature of the incident, the driver only sustained minor injuries and was assisted at the scene. Paramedics arrived to attend to the driver, who fortunately did not present any serious injuries. No passengers were reported to be in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Municipal Transit officers arrived at the site to document the incident and coordinate the removal of the vehicle. They are also evaluating whether there was any omission in signage by the authorities or by the company responsible for the construction work.
