Mexico City — Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa attended the Ordinary Session of the National Public Security Council, headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, where progress on actions to strengthen security and build peace for the well-being of Mexicans was discussed.

Mara Lezama thanked the support of the supreme commander of the Mexican Armed Forces, Claudia Sheinbaum, and the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, so that security in Quintana Roo continues to be reinforced through investments in security forces, training, and infrastructure improvements.

Furthermore, the state executive leader recognized the work and support of the Secretariat of National Defense, the Navy, and the National Guard for strengthening the National Security Strategy in Quintana Roo's 11 municipalities, as well as for maintaining inter-institutional coordination to continue reducing crime and high-impact crime rates in the state.

Mara Lezama acknowledged that coordination between levels of government and the armed forces has allowed action lines from July 2024 to July 2025 to reduce the rates of intentional homicide by up to 61.3 percent; in the Benito Juárez municipality, the reduction was 70.6 percent. High-impact crimes in the state decreased by 29.2 percent in the last year.

“This is the new way of the government of the fourth transformation: to effectively combat the scourges that harm the population, to address the root causes of violence. In this humanist government with a feminist heart and based on the New Agreement for Well-being and Development, the reconstruction of peace is a priority so that people can live without violence,” said Mara Lezama.

The Governor of Quintana Roo reaffirmed her commitment to inter-institutional coordination to strengthen security actions and work in unity for the reconstruction of peace.
