CANCÚN, QRoo — Governor Mara Lezama held a working meeting with the head of the National Migration Institute (INM), Sergio Salomón Céspedes, to develop further strategies aimed at improving the migration services provided to the thousands of international tourists who visit Quintana Roo.

During the meeting, Lezama reiterated that this new form of governance prioritizes the safety and well-being of Quintana Roo residents, as well as the thousands of tourists and visitors who arrive at the state's 12 destinations.

Furthermore, she explained that because tourism is one of the engines of Quintana Roo's economy, upon which thousands of families depend, it is necessary to consistently provide better services in migration, hospitality, gastronomy, and security to tourists. This effort is intended to ensure prosperity reaches all households in Quintana Roo.

The Governor noted that with the support of the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, through the National Migration Institute, wait times for tourists at the Cancún International Airport have been reduced to as little as 20 minutes. This improvement was achieved through the arrival of more agents and enhanced infrastructure.

Topics discussed with the head of the INM, Sergio Salomón Céspedes, also included increasing the number of Autonomous Migration Filters (e-Gates) in Quintana Roo's three airports; streamlining the inadmission procedure; and facilitating immigration entry procedures into Mexico at the southern border to promote the entry and extended stay of Belizean visitors.
