Playa del Carmen, Q.Roo — The municipal president of Playa del Carmen, Estefanía Mercado, highlighted the progress of the social program "Salud sin Tanto Choro," which has set a goal this year of enrolling more than 20,000 people at the two municipal medical units located in Villas del Sol and Zazil-Ha.

“Taking care of our people's health is the most important thing, because health cannot be a privilege; it must be a right for everyone. With 'Salud sin Tanto Choro,' we do it directly, without bureaucracy, without complications, and with results that are already visible,” expressed the mayor.

In this regard, she reported that thanks to this program, more than 900 free pairs of glasses and 5,600 medications have been distributed to those most in need over a two-month period, strengthening preventive care and improving people's quality of life.

Furthermore, through "Salud sin Tanto Choro," general medical, dental, nutrition, psychology, and optometry consultations are offered, as well as free medications and basic laboratory studies, which guarantees comprehensive and accessible service for citizens.

Parents can enroll their minor children, meaning the coverage, according to estimates, could benefit nearly 60,000 residents of Playa del Carmen.

Estefanía Mercado emphasized that this municipal program is free and permanent, designed to serve the residents of Playa del Carmen in a close, humane, and efficient manner. Registrations are open at the clinic in the Fourth Park of Villas del Sol, the clinic in Zazil-Ha, and the offices of the Secretariat of Social Justice and Citizen Participation. To date, 12,000 people have registered.

“We will continue working every day to guarantee that every inhabitant of Playa del Carmen receives quality medical attention, because health, in our municipality, is taken care of without so much fuss,” she stated.
