Cancún — To promote the talent, creativity, and active participation of university students in the tourism development of Benito Juárez, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa participated in the official kickoff of the "Jóvenes Innovando el Turismo" (JITUR) project.

This initiative, convened by the Benito Juárez City Council, provides young people the opportunity to present innovative proposals that strengthen tourism activity from an inclusive, sustainable, cultural, sports, social, technological, and other perspectives.

As an example during this inaugural session, four short films produced with Universidad FILMA were screened. Young filmmakers captured in different stories the nature, the blue sea of Cancún, various aquatic activities the destination offers, Mayan culture as part of the destination's identity, the kindness of its working people, and the identity of Cancún, including its culture, gastronomy, urban art, and nature.

Addressing the participating youth, Governor Mara Lezama stated, "This program was born with the very clear purpose of paving the way for you, giving space to your ideas, and telling you that we trust in you, that you are not alone."

She urged all the young people participating in the event to dare, to not keep their ideas to themselves. "Let no one tell you it can't be done. Never stop believing, imagining, dreaming, because in this humanist government with a feminist heart, we are going to support you so that those ideas find a path and become realities."

For her part, Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña stated that "Youth Innovating Tourism" is a project to listen to their ideas, and the youth from Universidad Filma are the first participants of this session with short films that convey what Cancún is.

She added that the goal is to inspire other young people to transform the future of this city. The call for proposals begins today and concludes on December 1.

Also present on the podium were Senator Anahí González and the Municipal Secretary of Tourism, Juan Pablo de Zulueta Razo.
