Tulum, Quintana Roo — The women’s softball team Las Diablillas de Hondzonot continues to earn recognition across the region, maintaining a rigorous schedule of matches and special invitations in various municipalities of the state.
Suspended Game and Upcoming Commitments
Manuel Pío Jiménez, the team’s promoter, reported that the Diablillas participated in a match in Leona Vicario over the weekend, following an invitation from local authorities, including the municipal president of Puerto Morelos. However, the game was suspended in the fourth inning due to an electrical storm.
“The game remains pending, but we are already coordinating with the rival team, Las Chicleras de Leona Vicario, so they can come to Hondzonot soon and we can complete the match,” Jiménez explained.
In addition to rescheduling the suspended game, the team is actively preparing with regular practices and a full slate of upcoming commitments, including three or four additional matches. Notably, they will participate as special guests this Sunday in the final of the men’s baseball tournament in the Zona Maya, where they will present trophies to the winners.
A Symbol of Pride and Dedication
Jiménez emphasized the enthusiasm and commitment of the players, who “never stop training and are always ready to represent their community with dignity.” Beyond their athletic talent, Las Diablillas have become cultural and sporting ambassadors for the Maya region, carrying a message of identity, discipline, and pride wherever they play.
The team’s packed agenda reflects their growing influence and the respect they command across Quintana Roo. Their dedication continues to inspire both fans and fellow athletes in the Zona Maya and beyond.
